Community Action for Responsible Hospitals is working to hold hospitals accountable to the communities they serve—not just their bottom line.
We advocate for high-quality, affordable care for all, especially the most vulnerable, while exposing corporate practices that put financial interests ahead of patient well-being.
Policy Principles
1
Transparency in Hospital Ownership and Pricing
Hospitals should be clear about who owns them, especially when big companies or private investors are involved. They should also post the prices of their services, so patients know what they’re paying for and to prevent overcharging.
2
High Standards for Hospital Operations and Patient Safety
Hospitals should prioritize patient care by enforcing health outcome-focused processes and maintaining proper staffing levels, preventing corporate hospitals from sacrificing quality of care for profits.
3
Oversight of the 340B Drug Program
Hospitals that get discounts on drugs through the 340B program should use those savings to help low-income patients. There should be strict rules to make sure they don’t use the money for profits or executive pay.
